Silo – Museum of Underwater Antiquities

One of its most famous landmarks, the Silo, is being transformed into a Museum of Underwater Antiquities. The old industrial building acquires an avant garde facelift in order to house the innumerable treasures found scattered in shipwrecks of Greece.

The process undertaken to convert an existing building from its old use to a completely new one is difficult and certainly not a gentle one. By default, this action brings about dramatic changes. A mild treatment with minimal modifications can compromise the result and fail to accomplish the objective in the best possible way. Thus, a bold move is necessary, one that will regenerate the building, taking into serious consideration the previous character, and intelligently integrating it into the new one.
